Pat Riley - Fantasy BasketballDropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly.  Goodly is a word, right?  Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!!

The Fig Cap: OK, We Give Up!

The Good:

Joe Johnson may have buried the game-winner in Atlanta, and owners can love his 21 points and nine rebounds all they want, but I’d rather take Josh Smith and his 28 points, seven boards, two steals and seven blocked shots.  Couple these numbers with the fact that he went 58 percent from the floor and 85 percent from the line and you may have yourself the line of the night.

Allen Iverson is playing out of his mind this week, following up a 51-point night with 35 points, 12 assists and six steals against the Mavericks.

And if we must give love from the Portland-Miami game, I’m handing it to Brandon Roy who tallied 25 points, five boards, six assists and a blocked shot – sending Miami home with their 14th loss of the season.

The Bad:

Speaking of the Blazers, Martell Webster should be losing his starting job any day now.  Dude put up four points in 20 minutes of play while being outplayed by Travis Outlaw yet again.  Outlaw put up 20 points and seven boards in 29 minutes off of the bench.

Shaquille O’Neal went 3-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-9 from the line to finish with eight points.  Ouch.

Jason Terry had an off-night with five points in 36 minutes of play, Sebastian Telfair had eight points in 32 minutes and Corey Brewer put up a 3-for-15 night to finish with six points in 44 minutes.

The Surprises:

Brewer, however, made up for his turrable shooting night by pulling down 18 (18!) rebounds and ripping four steals. His teammate Marko Jaric came back a bit early to barely miss a triple-double with 18 points, eight boards and nine assists off of the bench.  And he’s still tapping Adriana Lima.  Talk about fantasy hoops…

Jerry Stackhouse put up 28 for Dallas, not to be outdone by Linas Kleiza, who came through with a huge night of 23 points (including three treys) off of the bench for Denver.

Wrapping things up, Miami’s Daequan Cook rattled off two treys en route to a 9-of-11 night to finish with 20 points in the loss to Portland.  The kid can score, but will his game grow from there?  With a 4-14 record, the Heat may have to give him a shot…no pun intended.

Have a good weekend, all.
