Dropping Dimes on the Daily - 11.15.07

Description
Only four teams were off on Wednesday, so there were plenty of numbers flying around box scores and some off-the-heezy lines for a few guys.  Two guys made long-awaited returns, one had his second triple-double of the year, and a few others had monster rebounding nights.  I’d say it was a good night for some stats.

The Fig Cap: CONCENTRATE LEBRON!!!

Let’s start out in Milwaukee, where two big upside centers had two big nights.  Yes Alex, I’ll take Darko Milicic for 13 boards and 4 blocks.  And how about Andrew Bogut for 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks?  I’ll take it.  Rudy Gay also had 26 and Micheal Redd had 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in a Bucks W.

Speaking of cleaning the glass, let’s go to LA, in a drama filled Knicks-Clippers match.  Chris Caveman, err Kaman, had 18 rebounds and 4 blocks.  Zach Randolph did him one better with 19 rebounds.  Oh yeah. and the Clipps continued to surprise and won another game.

For the other Hollywood team, Kobe Bryant decided he’d drop 30 and add 8 rebounds and 5 assists in a big Laker win over a T-Mac-less Rocket team.  Why do they only play well when they go up against these good teams?  On the other side, Yao finished with 26 points and 13 boards, but somehow failed to record a block.  I’m sorry, but if you are unhumanly (word?) large, you need to be blocking at least one shot a game.  Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Let’s hang out in the Pacific division for a while.  The Warriors looked about ready to blow the Pistons out of the water, but somehow ended up losing.  Baron Davis, playing through injury, scored 29 with 10 assists and 4 threes on 50% shooting.  Jason Maxiell of the Pistons had 14 rebounds and 4 blocks.  Told you some guys cleaned the glass tonight.

In a few random lines, Morris Peterson made 6 threes, netting him 27 as the Hornets continue to roll.  Jason Kidd almost had a triple-double (he ALMOST does every night though right?) with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists, as his version of the Big Three couldn’t stop KG’s.  Andrei Kirilenko also kept his owners happy with a near triple-double, going for 8 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.  I think I’ve mentioned him in every edition I’ve done so far of DDotD.

Gilbert Arenas also showed us he’s still alive with 30 points and 11 dimes.  Teammate Caron Butler went for 25 with 4 steals.

Ah, but the biggest news of the night was that Pat Riley can put away to sneakers and uni, as Dwyane Wade returned to the Heat.  He came off the bench and scored 15 with 5 assists, 3 steals, and a block in just 24 minutes.  Put him back in your lineups folks.  Now.  Also returning was Ron Artest, who scored 17 with 6 dimes, 3 steals, and a block.  Somehow the Kings still lost to Minnesota.  Sad, just sad.

Line of the night?  You pick between two from the same game.  Dwight Howard had 35 with 16 rebounds and 4 blocks.  LeBron James decided he’d go for another trip-doub and posted 39 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 assists with two blocks.  Scariest part?  Brace yourself.  Howard (13-16) and James (7-9) somehow went a combined 20-25 from the line, including 3 clutch freebies by Bron to send the game into overtime.  Oh.  Em.  Gee.
