Dropping Dimes On The Daily: January 16, 2007

Gilbert ArenasDropping Dimes On The Daily is all about me looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly.  Goodly is a word, right?  Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!!  Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks.  Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts!  But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: “Yeah, I just can’t get enough of this attention.”

Man, Gilbert Arenas is simply going bananas, isn’t he?  I guess he’s trying to solidify his spot on the U.S. Olympic qualifying team.  That and/or getting on some Japanese restaurant commercials - “Hi, I’m Gilbert Arenas and I RUV hibachi!”... Amare Stoudemire sure is rewarding all of those that took a risk on him in the late second or early third rounds, finishing with 42 points and nine boards.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of those people.  I’ll put the egg on my face after I write this up… Earl Boykins is continuing to do what he does best with his new team, the Milwaukee Bucks, and that’s score (30 points and three treys); score and make taller players feel stupid… Ladies and gentleman, we have a Brian Cook sighting as he dropped 25 (including four threes) and grabbed 10.  Every few weeks, he’ll do this, so it’s not so surprising… I told you that Stephon Marbury would be straight rolling a couple of weeks ago after the Knicks/Nuggets brawl and he’s proving me right as he scored 25 points and dropped eight dimes.  Maybe I won’t put that Amare egg on my face afterall… Josh Childress had a 23/14 night.  Just thought you should know… Matt Carroll had five bombs and finished with 22 points.  Maybe we should all take him seriously in standard-sized leagues?... There might be no more Tony Allen, but there is Allan Ray who scored 22 points in 27 minutes.  Got to keep in mind though that Paul Pierce and Wally Szczerbiak are out due to injury and they’ll be back soon enough… Rasheed Wallace continues to stink at putting up points - he hit a triple and THAT’S IT!!!  He missed ten other shots, while playing 44 minutes.  With Chris Webber possibly coming to town, Wallace’s fantasy value could sink even more than it has been.  Um, the ten boards were nice though… My favorite line of the night - Andris Biedrins with six points and 16 rebounds… Raja Bell had seven three-pointers, which means he’s getting his rhythm back after his Bruce Leroy impersonation a few games back went awry and into a one-game suspension… Josh Smith equals defensive juggernaut, ending up with five steals and seven blocks.  He’s like a thinner, younger, and able to score version of Ben Wallace.  But, needless to say, they’re just about equal in ugliness… If Tyrus Thomas got more minutes, he’d basically be another Josh Smith as Thomas rejected five shots and ripped one rock… Despite getting punked by his wife, I have to love Jason Kidd who had ANOTHER near triple double - 19/9/10… Til next time!
