The Unviersity of Texas at Austin isn’t the kind of place you’d ordinarily find a comic book job, but there’s a slight one over there.
The school is looking for an Administrative Associate ($2,430/month) for all of the usual functions, with this one tossed in:
“Assist with the Comic Book, Trailblazer, Math and Science Competitions and executive breakfast events.”
I don’t know about the rest of the stuff - details at the link - but the competition sounds like fun.

The future of comic books will be digital, and one of the leaders in that direction is Comixology. They're in a hiring phase right now and if you've got the mad skills, they've got the jobs.
First up is a position for Product Manager.
Next is Product Director.
Then there's an opening for Production Manager.
Followed by one for a UX Manager, and I don't even know what that is. But it sounds very computery.
And so does the opening for System Administrator Manager.

If you're living in England, especially near the town of Bath, Future Publishing could be looking for you.
They need a Staff Writer for ImagineFX. It's a six month contract, but you'll be working "at the heart of the fantasy, sci-fi, video game and manga art community."
Here's what they expect of you: "You’ll write and plan artist interviews, reader galleries, book and comic reviews as well as exhibition reviews and convention reports. Also you will be responsible for daily and weekly updates to the website as well as managing and moderating the 8000-user ImagineFX.com forums and galleries."

Even if you can't draw or write, you can make the leap into the digital space of comics at Dark Horse.
They're looking for 2 "Python / Django / Android / iOS Developers" for their Milwaukie, OR offices. These are full-time, salaried positions.
So if you "enjoy building web and mobile applications using a mix of open source technologies, and enjoy a creative and casual work environment," they'd love to talk to you.
Dark Horse uses Python/Django for their content management and e-commerce web projects and they like to "keep things moving without subjecting everyone to a lot of meetings and heavyweight process."
If you have "deep knowledge of web technology, including client and server-side development and experience with at least one object-oriented language (Python, Java, Ruby, JavaScript, etc.) and a solid grasp of OO concepts" this could be the job for you.

Attack Marketing is looking for some outgoing folks to work as promotional talent at Comic Con International in San Diego this year, July 11-15.
They want “friendly and personable brand ambassadors, costume characters, and street team members.”
The weather is always great, the crowds can be a lot of fun and you’ll definitely have stories to tell as you massage your aching feet.
The temp jobs pays between $16-$30 per hour - I’m guessing the costumed performers get the higher dollar.

Hey, Art People, listen up! If you're going to attend the 2012 Comic Con International in San Diego next month, you might consider contacting Lucasfilm.
Their Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) division is going recruiting for a Concept Artist, and what does that mean exactly?
"The Concept Artist creates concept art for visual effects in feature films and television to include: characters, vehicles, environments, matte paintings, shot elements, and/or storyboards."
The job will be located at the Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco. The position comes with benefits, which usually means health and other little wellness perks.

Comic Book Jobs: DC Comics’ Publicity

If you’re still looking for a ticket to Comic Con International in San Diego this year, you might try getting a job at DC Comics. They’re looking for a Publicity Manager for their New York office.
You’ll be doing all the famous press-based work: networking with members of the press, working your contacts to create PR opportunities, stay on top of whatever editorial is doing, and provide daily content for DC’s news blogs. There are lots of requirements, including a minimum of 5 years pr experience, excellent communication skills, established press relationships, experience in publishing or related fields, and the ability to keep a secret. Knowledge of comics and/or DC characters is a plus.
And what about the convention in San Diego? This: “Ability to travel (domestically) approximately 25%.” So no doubt there’s a hotel room and a convention badge in your future with this job.

Ad sales is one of the hardest jobs I can think of that doesn’t involve actual physical work. It's all phone calls, meetings, presentations, networking - y'know, sales.
A new company called Funnies Extra! is looking for an ad sales person for a “new full-color comics newspaper called "Funnies Extra!" The job is commission only - so you sell ads, you get $.
“Print publication ad sales experience preferred but not required” is you’re a “self-starter, a great communicator, organized and energetic.”
