Hugh Jackman Doing “Good” After Cancer Treatment

Hugh JackmanHugh Jackman insists he's doing "good" after receiving his second lot of treatment for skin cancer last week.

The Wolverine actor - who also had cancerous cells removed in November - believes he's "fixed" after undergoing a procedure to remove a Basel Cell Carsinoma (BCC) from the side of his nose last Friday.

When asked how he is doing following the treatment, he told PEOPLE.com, "My face? It's fine, it's good. Thank you for asking. I have a few stitches, I had a basal cell carcinoma taken out."

Hugh has also urged his fans to protect themselves from the damaging rays of the sun and to get themselves seen by a medical professional as soon as they notice any abnormalities on their skin: "Tell all your readers: get check ups, wear sunscreen. It's all about prevention."

Hugh JackmanHugh Jackman has been treated for skin cancer again.

The Wolverine actor - who had cancerous cells removed last November - has urged fans to protect themselves from the damaging rays of the sun after undergoing a proecudure to remove a Basel Cell Carsinoma (BCC).

Posting a picture on Instagram showing his bandaged nose, he wrote, "Another Basel Cell Carsinoma. All out now. Thanks Dr. Albom and Dr. Arian. PLEASE! PLEASE! WEAR SUNSCREEN! Huge thanks to Dr. Arian and Dr. Born for operating on my nose until 10:20pm! #SUNSCREEN [sic]."

BCC is a treatable and common form of skin cancer signified by lesions or growths on the outermost layer of the skin that "often look like open sores, red patches, pink growths, shiny bumps, or scars" and are "usually caused by a combination of cumulative UV exposure and intense, occasional UV exposure, the Skin Cancer Foundation says.

Hugh Jackman has been treated for skin cancer.

The Wolverine star posted a photograph of his bandaged nose on Instagram, explaining to fans that he recently had skin cancer removed from his face. The 45-year-old revealed it was his wife Deborra-Lee Furness who encouraged him to get the "mark" on his nose checked. "Boy, was she right! I had basil cell carcinoma. Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!" he wrote.

Hugh Jackman’s Son Wishes His Dad Wasn’t Famous

The X-Men actor admits 12-year-old Oscar is uncomfortable when his famous father gets stopped in the street, but the youngster occasionally uses his dad's stardom to his advantage.

"My son is 12 and he just wants me to be dad. He doesn't want me to be famous. He doesn't like when people come up to me on the street. He would much prefer if nobody knew who I was. Although, I've seen him in social situations when he didn't think I was listening, and he once said to a girl, 'Well, my dad is Wolverine.' So when it came to try to talk to this girl, apparently it came in handy!" said Hugh, who also has six-year-old daughter Ava with wife Deborra-Lee Furness.

The Australian actor is a family man and cherishes the "everyday moments" spent with his loved ones more than anything:

VIDEO: Hugh Jackman Hurt Once Again—This Time Down Under


Hugh Jackman may be an action star, but he's been taking a lot of hits off the screen lately.

Earlier this month, the Wolverine took a hard hit to the face during a taping of Oprah in Australia. (Jackman, who was attempting to zipline his way to the stage, smacked into a lighting rig.)

Over the weekend, it was the lower half of Hugh's body that took the blow. In the video above, you can see the moment when a ball thrown by professional cricket player Shane Warne meets Jackman's groin.

Today, People officially named 40-year-old their “Sexiest Man Alive.” The 6’2” star of Australia has now been added to a list that also includes Brad Pitt (two-time winner), Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Jude Law and George Clooney (another two-time winner).

When asked which part of his body people like best, the married father of two responded: “My smile. Lately my pecs. I’m being honest!” (Yeah, I think that answer pretty much sums it up for me as well.)
