David Arquette has become a father again.

The 42-year-old actor and his girlfriend Christina McLarty welcomed their baby son Charlie West into the world on Monday at 12:35 pm in Los Angeles. The tiny tot weighed a healthy 8lbs 7oz and is said to be doing "well" following his birth.

"Mum, dad and baby are doing well. They appreciate all of your well wishes and thank you for respecting their privacy at this time," David's representative told PEOPLE.com.

David, who also has nine-year-old daughter Coco with his ex-wife Courteney Cox, recently admitted that he was keen to give his son a "traditional" name. "'I think we will go with something a little more traditional. I've been a bit cryptic about it. It's going to be the name of my grandfather used to play," he said previously.

Meanwhile, the hunky star is looking forward to seeing Christina, whom he has been dating on/off since 2011, adapt to motherhood and watching the tot growing up. "It's all new, but it's all beautiful. Playing catch, making [his son] laugh, and seeing my girlfriend Christina being a mother for the first time and all the joy and love that it's going to bring her and me," he said earlier this year.
