Although I’ve been known to highlight some of the stupid stupid things Regis Philbin has ever said on air, he (surprisingly) is not the focus of today’s gaffe. Jennifer Aniston is.

On today’s episode of Live with Regis and Kelly, Aniston talked to Philbin (and guest host Kristin Cruz) about her recent photo spread in Harper’s Bazaar. When Regis commented that she got to play “dress up” to channel Barbra Streisand, that’s when the flub came out. “I played dress up,” Jen responded. “I do it for a living, like a retard.” Oops!

The minute I heard that R-word come out, I knew Aniston was going to get flak for it. And I was right.

Even if it wasn’t intended to insult them, that is the effect of it.”
