Holograms for iPhone Review

I’m almost certain this is a one-of-a-kind app. It has to be.

Holograms, recently released on the and , allows you to create virtual holograms in a flash.

First, you either take a picture or select one from your library to use as a hologram. Next, you use the touch screen to manipulate some depth into your image. You can also tweak a few other settings, including effects and orientation.

Then all you have to do is move your iPhone back and forth to see the image in “virtual 3D.” To accomplish that, it uses the accelerometer in the iPhone or iPod touch.

All in all, it’s a very unique app. I’m not sure if I’ll come back to it often, but it is a pretty interesting concept. The video demo should give you a good idea of what to expect - there aren’t really any surprises here. Unfortunately there isn’t a way to share virtual holograms you create - whether or not they have this app - unless you’re in-person. That would be a neat add-on feature that could bring some added value to Holograms.

For $1.99, you could do worse. If the description and video appeal to you, check out Holograms.
